Dr. Julie Urda received her Ph. D. in Management concentrating in Organizational Behavior in 2006 from INSEAD, an international business school in Fontainebleau, France. She also earned an A.B. in psychology from Dartmouth College and an MBA from Boston University.
Dr. Urda came to ΢ÃÜȦ (΢ÃÜȦ) in 2007 after spending a year as Visiting Assistant Professor of Commerce, Organization, and Entrepreneurship at Brown University. At ΢ÃÜȦ, she teaches Foundations of Management; Management of a Diverse Workforce; Organizational Behavior; Organizational Theory; and Business, Government, and Society.
While her dissertation concerned how social goals and emotions influence behavior and motivation, her experiences teaching undergraduates redirected her research interests to topics in management education.
At ΢ÃÜȦ, Dr. Urda revived the Management and Marketing Departmental Honors Program in 2010, then chaired it until 2022. From August 2015 through June 2018 Dr. Urda served as the College’s First Year Seminar Coordinator. Dr. Urda then served as Assistant Chair to the Management and Marketing Department from 2019-2022.
She is currently developing an MBA program with a team from the School of Business and serves on the ΢ÃÜȦ Council, the Advisory Committee on Undergraduate Admissions, and the Committee on Academic Advising.
