World Languages Education M.A.T.
Program Description
The ΞΆΓάΘ¦ MAT in World Languages Education teacher preparation program invites applications from multilingual adults who already hold a bachelor's degree and wish to teach languages in K-12 schools. This may include:
- a degree in public relations from the Dominican Republic who wishes to teach Spanish
- a degree in political science from Senegal who wishes to teach French
- a degree in business from Brazil who wishes to teach Portuguese
- a degree in French, Portuguese, or Spanish language/literature from the US or another country
Who Can Participate
If you have a strong undergraduate background in French, Portuguese or Spanish, the M.A.T. in world languages education will prepare you for a teaching career at all levels of instruction.
How it Works
Along with coursework, you will engage with local language communities through multiple field placements in K-12 and community-based settings. You will also have many opportunities to learn and practice advocacy for language education at the local, state and national levels.
Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program, you will be eligible for full certification to teach world languages in all grades (pre-K-12) in Rhode Island.
