The Dispositions Instrument

The Feinstein School uses a dispositions instrument that is administered at least three times in the FSEHD student’s career: entry, midpoint, and near completion. In addition, the instrument is completed by the student/teacher candidate, a college supervisor, and a cooperating teacher/clinical supervisor at each point.

This instrument addresses a wide range of dispositions and has anchors, or examples of behaviors, to help determine to what extent the student is demonstrating that disposition over time. The disposition instruments for all three evaluators are essentially the same and samples for the college supervisor/cooperating teacher/clinical supervisor and student/teacher candidate self-evaluation are linked.

Training of college supervisors and cooperating teachers/clinical supervisors in use of this instrument has occurred annually by the Office of Partnerships and Placements (OPP) and the Director of Assessment, beginning in Fall 2018.
