The Department of Art prepares students for professional careers, liberal arts careers and graduate study. We also prepare the pre-K-12 art teachers of tomorrow.

We also present a full program of professional gallery exhibitions through our on-campus Bannister Gallery and Chazan Family Gallery as well as public lectures designed to contribute to the cultural climate of the college, local community, state and region.
Our program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design () and by the Rhode Island Department of Education ().
Undergraduate programs consist of: the B.A. in studio art, the B.F.A. in studio art, the B.A. in art history, the B.S. in art education, Minor in Art History, and Minor in Studio Art.
Department of Art graduate programs are the M.A. in art, with a concentration in art education; the M.A.T. in art education; and the M.A. in art, with a concentration in media studies.

Honors in Art offers the opportunity to conduct an independent research, critical, or creative project on a topic of your choice.
